Things to Know:

Please join us as Scouter Volunteers. Consider joining as a Adult Leader and be the example for a generation of Scouting Youth.
Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader.

Common sense tells us that training is important, and research shows the importance of trained leaders. A trained leader is knowledgeable and more confident in the role being performed. Trained leaders exhibit a knowledge and confidence that is picked up by people around them. Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, leader tenure, youth tenure, safety, and a whole lot more. A trained leader is better prepared to make the Scouting program all it can be!

Requirements to be Added as a Trained Leader - CA Mandated Reporter Training, Youth Protection,
Online Position Training, & a Live Scan Background Check. - To get a jump on this please go to - California Scouting

As announced earlier, a new law has taken effect in California and will further support our mission to protect youth in our program from neglect and abuse. Pursuant to California Business and Professions Code Section 18975 (formally referred to as AB 506 of 2021), volunteers, employees, and administrators are now required to take an additional training and complete a Live Scan background check.  Visit www.californiascouting.org
for details and links to resources.

We will continue to update on specifics for the Live Scan background check process as it becomes available to our council. In the interim, we ask that volunteers refrain from initiating a Live Scan for Scouting until it becomes available for our council.

Here is what you need to know to run a great program for your Cub Scouts and be trained in your position.
Youth Protection Training – Renew every 2 years.
Online Cub Scout Leader Specific OR take one of our live classes taught by local volunteers like you
Hazardous Weather – Renewed every 2 years.
Optional Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO). One BALOO trained adult leader is required on all Pack or Den overnights.
