Pack 110 held a Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday, June 27th at MCS. It was a great turn out! Huge thanks to all the parents who helped out from the bike inspectors/tune-up, grill masters, cashier, registration, course set-up, to course guiders. All your help made the bicycle rodeo a great event for everyone who attended! We also want to thank Sports Basement for generously donating a $25 gift card to their store. Congratulations to the Lilly's for holding the winning raffle ticket! Last but not least, huge thanks to Silicon Valley Bike Coalition for donating a brand new helmet. The Nguyen family won this awesome prize! Silicon Valley Bike Coalition also donated the green bracelets, San Jose Bike Map, water bottles, bicycle LED lights, stickers, and safety pamphlets. Congrats to all the water bottle and bicycle LED light winners! Thank you!!

The Arrow of Light den met at Mikes Bikes in San Jose in preparation for the upcoming Bicycle Rodeo THE OUTSTANDING STAFF made us feel welcome and taught us bicycle safety and maintenance - Nick Carolina Khalil Nathan Tony These people are on the top of my list of exceptional team performers. Everyone worked seamlessly with other customers while we invaded the store so we did not feel we were imposing. Carolina and Nathan taught us everything about gearing up before saddling up, understanding the gear needed for each type of riding and how safety is a big part of knowing how to ride.
In the shop we learned what to look for on a bike from front to back and where to make the right adjustments. Arrow of Light patrol training hike getting ready for the High Sierra hike next month. This hike started in the Sandy Wool Lake parking lot at Ed Levin park.
As soon as the park opened a rush of hang glider and parasail pilots were quick to unload their gear and head up the mountain. The air was still at 8:00 AM when we arrived and the fog drew back to the other side of the bay to reveal the bluest of skies. Hiking early kept us cool on the way up to the trail junction at 1400 feet. The warm air was starting to rise out of the valley below and we could feel the thermal drafts starting up the mountain that kept the fliers gliding silently around the hill tops. We spotted a beautiful spot to rest along the running spring fed creek, so we did. |
